The Graduate Network has been established for the last 7 or 8 years, and aims to ensure that the activities UKICRS offers are what our student membership want, and make sure that postgraduates know what we are up to.
As the first postgraduate student co-opted onto the UKICRS Committee, I’ve been able to speak for postgraduates at our quarterly committee meetings, help organise the annual symposium (with the recent introduction of a graduate network session on the Thursday morning), and hopefully recruit some new postgraduate members, all with the help of the lovely Graduate Network Committee.
The time has come for me to hand over the role to someone new, as I am (finally!) submitting my thesis. Being Graduate Network Chair involves attending 4 committee meetings in London per year (travel paid) and just generally getting involved where you can. It would be ideal for someone in the earlier stages of their PhD, but I’m keen to hear from anyone who is interested.
At the same time, we are always looking for postgraduates to get involved with the graduate network committee or become a rep, especially if your university is not already represented (Look here).
If you are a postgraduate interested in getting involved with the running of UKICRS, please get in touch below, or contact me (Laura) at firstname.lastname@example.org
