2022 UKICRS Workshop & Symposium

The UKICRS Symposium is primarily aimed at postgraduate students, postdoctoral research fellows, industrialists and academics working in the fields of pharmaceutical sciences and drug delivery.

The symposium will offer a wide range of opportunities for both young and established scientists to present their latest research and network with others from academia and industry.

Getting there

By plane
Direct flights into Manchester airport are available from Aberdeen, Belfast City, Belfast International, Cork, Derry, Dublin, Exeter,  Inverness, London Heathrow, Shannon, Southampton, . The Barnes Wallis Building is approximately 9 miles (a 25–30 minute taxi ride - approximately £25) from the Airport.

By train
The Barnes Wallis Building is a 5-minute walk 
from Manchester Piccadilly Station, which offers good connections with the rest of the UK rail network, and a 10 min walk from Oxford Street Station. Find out more at www.thetrainline.com.

Symposium Dinner

All registered delegates and exhibitors are invited to attend the 3-course Symposium dinner, 7.00 pm Thursday 9th June 2022 at Las Iguanas restaurant in Deansgate, Manchester. UKICRS will cover the cost, although you'll pay for your own drinks. The full address of the venue and the menu is provided below.

Abstract submission

UKICRS is now inviting submission of scientific abstracts for the 2022 Symposium. Deadline for submission of abstracts is Friday 22nd April 2022.
Please submit your abstract(s) using the online submission form.

​Poster format

As always, poster presentations will be at the heart of this year’s symposium. Two poster sessions will be held on Friday 10th June 2022. Please format your poster as A0 size, in portrait orientation; the poster boards measure 2.1 m high x 1 m wide.

Industrial Session & Exhibition

A series of short talks by our industrial sponsors will take place at 2.00–3.30 pm Thursday 9th June. 

​A special exhibitors space – fully resourced with tables and power supply – will be provided during the two-day Symposium. Many exhibitors will use this space to display equipment from their current product range. The exhibitor space will be available for set-up Monday morning from 8am onwards.

If you plan to travel by air to The University of Manchester, our nearest airport is Manchester Airport. Manchester Airport is one of the largest and busiest in the country. It is located about 10 miles (16 km) south of the city centre, about 30 minutes from the University. Most major airlines fly to and from Manchester. For more information please visit the Manchester Airport website.

The airport has a number of transport links to the city:
Train – The airport's three terminals are linked directly to the city centre by a fast, frequent 24-hour train link to both Piccadilly and Oxford Road stations.
Taxi – A taxi from the airport to the University will cost approximately £25.
Bus – Local buses also run to the Oxford Road area of the campus.
Manchester is very well connected to the wider UK rail network. The University is located close to both Piccadilly main line station (about two and a half hours from London) and Oxford Road train station, with Victoria train station a little further away.​ Please see this travel link on the University website for further details.
For transport in and around Manchester city centre, we recommend use of the traditional black cabs or Uber.

Delegates are responsible for booking and purchasing their own accommodation. Suggestions for accommodation close to the Symposium venue are provided below.
