UKICRS Travel Award for attendance at CRS 2020 Las Vegas


​UKICRS is offering up to three travel awards, each for up to £1000, for attendance by a postgraduate student or early-career postdoctoral scientist at the CRS Annual Meeting & Exposition in Las Vegas, US (27 June – 1 July 2020). 

Criteria
  • Applicants must be UKICRS members and have actively contributed to UKICRS activities (e.g. presentation at UKICRS meeting - poster or oral presentation).
  • Applicants must become a member of the CRS during the year of the award.
  • Applicants must be a current postgraduate research student or postdoctoral student at a University in the UK or Ireland.
  • Applicants must provide a letter of support from their academic supervisor that provides evidence of the applicant's research quality.
  • Applicants must have already completed submission of an abstract to CRS 2020 Las Vegas, and that abstract must also be included in this application for a travel award.  
  • Award recipients are required to provide evidence to UKICRS that their abstract has been accepted by CRS for a poster or podium presentation at the CRS 2020 Symposium in Las Vegas.
  • Award recipients must present at the 2020 CRS conference before the travel award funds are administered.
  • Award recipients must submit a short report about the conference, which may be published on the UKICRS and CRS websites.
  • Travel grant awardees are to acknowledge "CRS Local Chapter Young Scientist Travel Grant" in their poster or podium presentation at the CRS Annual Meeting.

Application procedure
​There are three items required to enter this competition:
  1. You must include the abstract that have submitted to the CRS Symposium Las Vegas (1 page) 
  2. You must include a brief description (up to 250 words) of how your attendance at the CRS meeting in July will benefit you and your research (1 page)
  3. You must include a short (1 page max)  letter of support from your academic supervisor. Supervisors should include a briefly commentary about the quality of the applicants science and should highlight any evidence of quality that is supported by peer review. Examples could include the quality of their poster/oral presentations at a recent UKICRS symposium and/or the applicants contribution to any relevant full journal publications on the subject of drug delivery.​

These three items should be combined into a single document and then uploaded as a single pdf file of no more than 3 A4 pages in length.

UKICRS will contact the supervisors of the winning students to confirm their registration as PhD students in the UK or Ireland. 

The deadline for receipt of applications is 23.59 UK time on Friday 31st January 2020.

UKICRS reserve the right to announce the winner on the UKICRS website.
